From the library of Sir William Bilsland with loosely inserted an autograph letter to Sir William Bilsland from Scottish historian, antiquary, and lawyer George Neilson. Dated 22 July 1908 Neilson replies to a letter from Bilsland agreeing to the proposal of “getting into print, under Mr Renwick’s most careful and practised hand, the charters and records of the city from 1717 until 1832”. Letter folded and with a couple of chops on lower edge affecting a couple of letters.
8vo., original publisher’s red morocco backed cloth boards. Spine lettered in gilt with Glasgow City crest in gilt, upper board also with Glasgow City crest in gilt. Spine slightly sunned, half-title browned from (now removed) newspaper cuttings, otherwise a very good, partially unopened, copy.
