Flicker book produced to commemorate the breaking of the World Water Speed Record by Sir Malcolm Campbell on Lake Maggiore in September 1937. One sequence shows Campbell preparing for the run and the other the boat in action.
Campbell had previously broken the world speed record on land in 1935 before turning his attentions to water. The record was broken on the 1st September 1937, with 126.32 mph, breaking the previous record by Gar Wood, which had been held for 5 consecutive years. The following day this speed was improved to to 129.5 mph. One of the most collectable flicker books from the Castrol Oil series
