Bookseller
Heywood Hill is one of London’s leading independent bookshops.
We sell important, interesting and beautiful books to enhance people’s lives. We specialise in customer-focused literary services for readers and collectors worldwide.
We are looking for an outstanding sales person to join our friendly and dynamic band of booksellers, an enthusiastic team player with customer-facing flair and a passion for books.
Duties will include but are not limited to: stocking, merchandising and selling books on our shop floor (and at other venues), and working on both the sales and fulfilment of our various book subscription services in our 90th year and beyond. You would be expected to muck in whenever and wherever needed within the business.
Working alongside other colleagues on and off our busy shop floor you will have a can-do attitude, an eye for detail and a proactive approach. You will need to be a problem solver and a hard worker. Working at a high capacity you should expect to juggle a variety of responsibilities calmly, effectively, and with good cheer. You should relish the thought of recommending books to people across a wide spectrum of opinion, age and sensibility.
Bookselling or other luxury sales experience is preferred but not essential. Above all we are looking for someone with a positive approach to life with good judgement and bags of initiative.
