When circumstances call for a library or a collection to be scaled down or disposed of, Heywood Hill is often called in to advise discretely on the sale of books. Over the years we have bought private collections from many of our customers who trust us to find new homes for treasured books. The most interesting collections are offered for sale in our occasional catalogues.
We have published catalogues of antiquarian or out-of-print books since 1937.
In recent decades the shop has produced a number of well-received tribute catalogues in which we have offered for sale the libraries of writers or other customers including James Lees-Milne, Edward Heath, A L Rowse and Hugh Trevor Roper.
