About the Collection:
We are delighted to launch our latest collection, Heywood Hill’s Everyman 90, containing our choice of 90 titans of literature published by the legendary Everyman for £1600. From Chaucer to Conrad, Hardy to Highsmith, we have assembled ninety fiction titles that form the perfect gift for readers of classic fiction. The ideal housewarming, wedding or very generous present, these literary classics all include substantial introductions by major scholars with comparative chronologies for historical context. Each Everyman book is built to last with sewn cloth bindings and high quality paper.
David Campbell, the publisher of Everyman’s Library, told us: ‘The greatest works of the world’s greatest writers deserve to be beautifully printed in an edition that is a joy to read and which will last hundreds of years. Heywood Hill has stocked Everyman titles from the very beginning and we are delighted this famous Mayfair bookshop is bringing our books to a new audience.’
About the Publisher:
Everyman was founded in 1906 by Joseph Dent, a visionary publisher. He promised ‘infinite riches in a little room’.
In the autumn of 2023 Everyman celebrated the printing of the 25th millionth Everyman book, Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, since the 1991 revival of Everyman. For over thirty years since they have printed with the same printers. The paper is cream-wove and acid-free - from which the lignin that yellows pages over time has been removed - comes from an Austrian paper mill that, amazingly, has belonged to only two families since its founding in 1583 (just a hundred years or so after Johannes Gutenberg's invention of moveable type).
